Should it mater what it is called.
Tangent; is the reason we use an evergreen as Christmas trees because it is the only tree that stays green, hence the hope that the earth will return to the way is once was? To celebrate the tree's life as a beacon of what was and what is to come? origin of Christmas or origin of Christmas
Whether you are christian, pagan, muslim, jewish, buddhist or atheist, what is the problem with celebrating joy, goodwill and hope, for what ever the reason. What difference then, should it matter what it is called. When you buy a band-aid, it doesn't always say "Band-Aid" on the box, when you are wrapping presents and you need the tape you don't call it "cellophane sticky tape", you call it "scotch tape", but that's not what they are, those are brand names. So are holiday season is Christmas, no matter why, what, how or who you are that's what it is.
So a rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet, and yes -- would still be a rose!
BTW-- I'm not too sure about the trees but I do know that garland and wreaths are pagan traditions. Does that change anyones mind about how gorgeous holiday decorations can be?
